Care & Comfort Supports the Journey House

Care & Comfort Supports the Journey House

Dover Foxcroft, ME - Care & Comfort and the employees of their Dover Foxcroft branch recently presented The Journey House a check in support of their program.  Located in Dexter,
Penquis’ Journey House provides a transitional living program for pregnant and/or parenting young women between the ages of 16 and 21 who are experiencing homelessness.  The home which has 24 hour on site staff provides a family focused environment  where up to four young women with one or two children each san reside for up to 18 months while learning life skills and self sufficiency through education.

This donation was made possible through proceeds from Care & Comfort’s Jean Day campaign, which was launched over 12 years ago.  An ongoing collaborative fundraising effort between Care & Comfort and its employees, Jean Day lets staff leave their normal work attire at home and wear jeans on Fridays for a $2.00 donation. The company matches every dollar raised and the employees of each branch select the local recipients annually.

Care & Comfort, a prominent, statewide provider of Home Health Care and Behavioral Health Care services and their 600 plus employees are committed to supporting local organizations that directly benefit the communities they mutually serve.   “Our employees always give careful consideration when selecting Jean Fund recipients and I am so pleased with their decision to assist the Journey House”, remarks Susan D. Giguere Care & Comfort’s Founder and CEO. “A safe place and strong support system is crucial to young women who are facing so many challenges and changes in their lives. After touring the facility and talking with staff members, I am truly impressed with the enthusiasm and commitment Penquis has to providing these mothers a safe, nurturing transitional environment in which they are provided access to resources which will forever impact their life and that of their children”, she adds.
