Care & Comfort and their Wilton staff donate to the Greater Rumford Community Center

Care & Comfort and their Wilton staff donate to the Greater Rumford Community Center

Care & Comfort and the employees of their Wilton Branch recently presented the Greater Rumford Community Center (GRCC) Community with a donation to help support programs they offer for individuals of all ages. The funds were given through a grant from C & C’s Jean Fund, an ongoing collaborative fundraising effort between Care & Comfort and its employees. The company matches every dollar the employees raise; semi-annually the staff at each of their five offices selects their local beneficiary.

“We are proud to support the GRCC as they continue their 100 plus years tradition of providing recreational and educational opportunities for those from 1 to 101,” said Susan D. Giguere Care & Comfort’s Founder and CEO. “They offer so many fantastic programs for individuals, families and groups that enhance the well-being of the community overall.  Our employees carefully select each gift recipient; I am so pleased with their choice of the GRCC, which provides a safe gathering place for so many diverse activities.

Commenting on the selection of the GRCC Joe Tinkham, Care & Comfort’s Wilton Branch Manager remarked, “When deciding where we would donate the money our Wilton staff raised, we immediately determined that we wanted to give to the Rumford area.  We’ve learned that through the simple process of offering office staff the option to pay two dollars each week, with the benefit of being able to wear jeans on Fridays, we can really make a positive impact in the area.  One of the advantages of giving donations twice a year is that it enables us to give to diverse populations – both geographically, as well as a great range of causes.  Once we had identified the Rumford area as being the place we wanted to donate in, it became obvious to us that the Greater Rumford Community Center was the best place to give to.  For those who may not know, the GRCC has been around since 1910.  Along with that longevity has come a far-reaching reputation for not just providing excellent programs and a place for kids to go where they can safely connect with others, but also a reputation for genuinely caring about the area and those living there.  The programs they provide, such as floor hockey, baseball, basketball, gymnastics, and many more, are funded by the town, sponsors, and volunteers.  To be one of those sponsors for 2015, and to give over $900 that will benefit those programs, is an honor for us.  For those not currently familiar with the GRCC, I would recommend stopping in to the center on Congress Street in Rumford, and checking out the facility and programs for yourself.

Receiving the check on behalf of the GRCC during Care & Comfort’s annual Staff Appreciation Day gathering was Gary Doloff, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
