Care & Comfort And Our Waterville Staff Give A Major Gift to the Greater Waterville Food Bank
Recently Care & Comfort and the staff of our Waterville Branch presented The Greater Waterville Area Food Bank with a gift of $5,775.00 from our Jean Fund. We, Care & Comfort and our employees, believe in supporting those organizations in our community that are vital and meet the needs of many, the GWAFB certainly does this.
“What greater need is there than helping to provide healthy meals for our neighbors?” remarked Mike Stair, our COO. “Right here in Maine, one in four children do not know when or where they will get their next meal. Unfortunately, Maine ranks first in New England in food insecurity among children. The statistics for seniors are just as alarming, as they struggle with the tough choice of paying for medications, heating oil or food. We are very proud that our staff once again selected The Greater Waterville Area Food Bank to receive this gift. As one of Maine’s largest providers of Home & Behavioral Health Care services, serving thousands of individuals and families statewide each year, we see first-hand the reality of hunger daily. We know this will help provide for many, and we hope other local businesses and their employees will join us in supporting the Food Bank.”
“Everyone is always so busy with the day to day "stuff" that rarely (if ever) do we take a break just to pause and quietly reflect for a few minutes on what we''ve done for our communities and the impact we''ve had as a team. To be honest "caring for our communities" is a given for us - Care & Comfort and our staff - it''s a part of our culture of which we''re very proud.” noted our CEO and Founder Susan D. Giguere.
This gift was made possible through The Jeans Fund, an ongoing collaborative fundraising effort between Care & Comfort and our employees. Every Friday is Jean Day, and staff may leave their usual work attire at home and wear jeans for a $2.00 donation. The company then matches every dollar raised, and the employees of each branch select their local beneficiary semi-annually.
